How is a Pool Heat Pump Installed?

How is a Pool Heat Pump Installed?

A pool heat pump is plumbed into the existing pool plumbing as shown below:

Pool Heat Pump Installation Diagram

The existing pool filter pump, pumps water from the pool through the heat pump. The heat pump then warms the water and the heated water flows back into your pool. Once the pool reaches the desired temperature the heat pump switches off.

It is important that the heat pump is plumbed in before any chemical dosing (water treatment) unit like a chlorinator. This will prevent water with a very high chemical concentration from entering the heat pump.

The power cable to the heat pump must be according to the heat pump’s power requirement. Often the power cable going to the pool pump is not thick enough to power both the pool heat pump and the pool filtration pump.
